The Cape Dory 30 Cutter, designed by Carl Alberg, is a solid, sea-kindly, forgiving boat. The cutter rig with the high cut 'yankee' jib and self tending staysail makes her easy to sail. Since her adoption 13 years ago, MoonPuppy has proudly taken us on our annual 4-6 week vacation cruises of the Bahamas, Keys and West Coast of Florida. Her 4'2" shoal draft and full keel is perfectly suited for these waters. She has been continually upgraded and maintained and is currently in good cruising condition. Sails are crisp. She was re-rigged in 2006. She has Edson wheel steering, cables and sheaves replaced in 2005. She has eight bronze opening ports with custom fit screens, and two opening hatches that add light and ventilation. She has Amsteel lifelines and nylon-netting, custom stern seats, an 80-watt solar panel, Isotherm 12 volt refrigeration. Her galley has a two burner flooded alcohol stove and two stainless steel sinks. There is a saltwater hand pump as well as fresh water foot pump. Only 470 hours since she was re-powered with a never-used diesel engine of the same model as the original -- Volvo MD7A. The original engine is available for parts She comes with two anchors on the bowsprit: a modern Hydrobubble that we find unbeatable for setting first time, every time, and the more traditional 25 lb CQR, both with chain and rope rode. The interior is teak, with bronze accents. There is ample locker and storage space throughout to provision for 4 - 6 weeks. So why are we selling? We are looking for a larger boat to cruise and live aboard fulltime
